I have a question for you all!
I am thinking about trying out for Relay Idol, an entertainment portion of our school's Relay for Life, a program which raises money for cancer research, and the Idols are sponsored by teams which in turn helps to raise more money for the cause.
Now, in order to be able to have a team sponsor me, I actually have to nail the preliminary auditions first!
I've not been properly judged by a choral/music teacher, but from the descriptions I have read on the Internet and other places, my singing range is anywhere between mezzo-alto and contralto.
My question for you is: know any good songs that would complement my singing range for the contest? [Hint: The lyrics may not contain profanity, sexually explicit lyrics, talk of illegal substance use, and things of that nature. Tracks that have a karaoke/instrumental/voiceless track to go with it are preferred.]
I have two ideas bouncing around in my head:
1. 'Misery Business' by Paramore
2. 'Don't Rain on My Parade' by Barbara Streisand
Just to give you an idea.
Melodically,

That and I tend to be lousy at picking songs. Good luck though!
I considered Katy Perry songs...but uh, it's Katy Perry. She breaks pretty much all of the rules I mentioned for stuff you CAN'T have in songs.
